Pet Dentistry
One of the most commonly overlooked health problems is dental disease. Most pets by the age of three will develop periodontal disease to some degree – a bacterial infection along the gumline that is caused by plaque. This can lead to destruction of the gums, tooth decay and tooth loss, but also damage to internal organs.
During your yearly wellness exams, your veterinarian will check your pet’s teeth and gums to make recommendations as to help your pet. This can be anywhere from a recommendation to a tooth brushing and dental treats to having a professional dental cleaning and oral exam. Our dental procedures include dental x-rays, teeth cleaning and polishing, dental charting, extractions when necessary, and a thorough dental exam of all the teeth. We’ll send you home with instructions for post-dental care at home, including any medications, feeding instructions, and if you need to come back for a follow-up visit.
